Giulia Cilia, born in 1995 in Castelli Romani, where she currently continues to live, is today a seamstress, milliner, costume designer and mussel educator. At the age of 9 he became passionate about drawing, painting and the works of Leonardo Da Vinci, so much so that he decided to enroll in a drawing course to attend after school as well as starting to enrich his library of history texts, art and any artistic and decoration technique. During the middle school, drawing the very first and rudimentary fashion sketches, she became curious about the world of fashion, specializing her interest in art in this field. She enrolled in the “fabric art” course at the “Paolo Mercuri” Art Institute in Ciampino, where she learned the techniques of loom work and fabric printing. During the third year of high school, after school, she attended a cutting and tailoring course with a professional seamstress. In the same period she approached Japanese culture in all its facets: painting, ceramics, cooking, literature, dyeing techniques (such as shibori), embroidery techniques (such as sashiko), theater etc. After high school she enrolled in the three-year “Fashion Cultures and Technologies” course at the “Academy of Fine Arts in Rome“, where she developed an interest in theater and costume for entertainment. For this reason, during the third year, she attended the “Costume for Entertainment” course at “LabCostume” and, after graduation, the “Theatrical Tailoring” course. For her thesis she carried out an in-depth study on modern Japanese musicals with a historical excursus on Japan between painting, theater and animation.

At the same time she works as a stage seamstress and as assistant costume designer to Helga Williams, for some theater shows, two of which promoted by the Officina Pasolini school, directed by Massimo Venturiello. To afford training and English language courses, she found work as a sales assistant at a large haberdashery in Rome, where she remained for almost a year. Through the mediation of LabCostume, you subsequently participate in the competition “A school, a job – Paths to Excellence”, announced by the “Fondazione Cologni Mestieri d’Arte“. She wins the tender and goes to Milan to participate in a master’s degree on “artistic professions”, in which she understands the salient and necessary points to enhance artisan work. Again thanks to the announcement, she began a six-month internship at the telecinetheatrical laboratory “Maurizio Bazar s.r.l.” of Rome, with whom she still collaborates today and where every day she works on something different, from a mask to a hat and from armor to a shirt. From January 2021 to May 2023 he attended the master’s degree course in “History of Art” at the “University of Tor Vergata“(Rome), obtaining his degree with full marks with a thesis on History of Medieval Art on the city of Velletri (Rome). February 2022 to June 2022, thanks to the “Erasmus + studio” grant, he followed lessons at the “Universidad de Córdoba” (Spain), while in June he carried out a 150-hour internship at the ArtDecor foundation in Cordoba, where he was able to come into contact with various realities of the modern Spanish culture and followed the procedures for carrying out cultural events. Since October 2021 she has been collaborating, as a costume designer, with the Velletri Theater Company “Teatro della Luce e dell’Ombra”.

She has a good command of English and Spanish and modest knowledge of French and Japanese. In his free time he acts in the amateur theater company “I Millepiedi”, plays the classical guitar and creates clothing and accessories on commission.
